Glamping in Moffet
A new yurt on the edge of Lac des Quinze
The Gaboury Development Corporation is continuing its mission to revitalize the region by launching a new outdoor tourist accommodation initiative. Since the summer, a comfortable yurt has been welcoming visitors seeking peace and quiet, natural beauty, and a different experience from traditional camping.
A vision focused on sustainable tourism
True to its regional development mission, the non-profit organization is focusing on ready-to-camp solutions to enhance the landscapes of Témiscamingue in a different way. The installation of this first yurt is part of a series of recreational tourism projects led by the Corporation in the eastern part of the region.
Located in Moffet, on the edge of the majestic Lac des Quinze, this yurt with mezzanine offers a friendly alternative to classic camping: a solid roof, cozy comfort and total immersion in nature.
 Glamping: simplicity, comfort and escape
Far from the crowds and close to the essentials, glamping combines the authenticity of camping with well-equipped accommodations. In this yurt, visitors will find comfortable bedding, a wood-burning stove for cool evenings, a basic kitchen, and everything needed to cook and relax outdoors. Candlelight and rustic furniture enhance the charm of the experience.
The view of the lake, the song of the loons and the tranquility of the place perfectly complement this unique stay, where comfort and nature become one.
 A destination to discover
Eastern Témiscamingue is full of places to explore. This new accommodation allows visitors to discover the region in a different way, at their own pace, while encouraging a local economy centered on nature, employment, and accessibility.
For a romantic weekend, a relaxing break or a gentle family adventure, this yurt offers everything you need to unwind... without sacrificing any comfort.

A bustling development corporation
Summer 2024 marks a turning point for the Gaboury Development Corporation
A non-profit organization founded in 1991, the Gaboury Development Corporation continues to expand its impact on the Témiscamingue region. Led by a dedicated team led by André Baillargeon, the Corporation is having a particularly dynamic year. At the intersection of forestry, recreational tourism, and community activities, the year 2024 confirms one thing: at Gaboury, the word development takes on its full meaning.
Forestry: a summer of reforestation and clearing
The Corporation's core business remains forestry, and this year, government contracts are pouring in. Since June, teams have been hard at work in several areas—Témiscaming, Béarn, Rémigny, Notre-Dame-du-Nord, Moffet, Laforce, Fugèreville, Latulipe, Guérin, and Fabre—carrying out brush clearing and reforestation work.
This activity, which had slowed due to a lack of manpower, is now restarting thanks to major contracts signed with the Société d'exploitation sylvicole du Témiscamingue, under the management of the Regional Agency for the Development of Private Forests. Reforestation resumed in May and will continue until the end of September.
Nature tourism: recreational tourism takes root
One of the most promising aspects of Gaboury's revival lies in the development of its recreational tourism offerings. The maintenance of the Chute à Ovide and Pointe-aux-Roches trails, entrusted by the municipality of Latulipe, is part of a broader vision: to create accessible and sustainable natural accommodations.
Two new options are currently being developed: ready-to-pitch, for those who wish to pitch their tent in the middle of the forest, and ready-to-camp, which is more comfortable, including a magnificent yurt with a mezzanine now available for rental in Moffet, on the shores of Lac des Quinze.
Wood processing: a local and useful service
In an effort to fully exploit forest resources, the Corporation has acquired a wood processor and a sawmill. This allows it to recover little-used species, such as red pine, and offer them to the public in the form of firewood or sawn timber.
This is not a profit-making project, but rather a gesture of service to the community of Eastern Témiscamingue. These activities also extend the employees' working season, both before and after the main forestry operations.
Local traditions: the magic of self-picking
Another unifying aspect: the Corporation continues to uphold deep-rooted local traditions, such as the Christmas tree pick-your-own. Located at 775, ranges 7 and 8, just before the fork for Moffet, the fir forest of more than 5,000 trees opens its ranks a few weekends before the holidays in a festive atmosphere.
Additionally, the Latulipe blueberry field, which has been on hiatus for several years, is being revitalized. The goal: to bring families back to the Lac des Bois trail to pick blueberries in the great outdoors.
A mobilized team and a promising future
With offices in the heart of the village and worker housing on the second floor, the Corporation continues to welcome local and external talent to meet growing demand. In 2023, due to a labor shortage, the team had to call on external workers. In 2024, these reforestation workers are living on-site, reinforcing the idea of a well-established and autonomous organization.
André Baillargeon reminds us with conviction: "The word development in our name is not there for show." The organization is consolidating its current projects, but does not hide the fact that other initiatives are in the pipeline—some of which are still confidential.
One thing is certain: the summer of 2024 confirms that the Gaboury Corporation is alive and well, action-oriented, and still deeply rooted in its territory.

Welcome to the Gaboury Development Corporation's fir forest, a place where the holiday spirit takes root.
A local tradition that smells of pine
Every year, a few weekends before Christmas, the Gaboury team welcomes young and old alike to a festive and friendly atmosphere. Armed with their saws and their good humor, visitors come to choose their tree, the one that will decorate their home and fill the holiday season with fragrance.
It's a simple, accessible, and magical activity—ideal for creating lasting family memories or reconnecting with the authenticity of old-world traditions.
A warm atmosphere in the heart of nature
On site, the team does everything to make the experience memorable: a smiling welcome, a campfire to warm up, fir trees of all sizes, and of course, that unique atmosphere that only the snowy forest can offer.
Whether you come alone, as a couple or with your family, the fir forest invites you to slow down, breathe the fresh air of Témiscamingue and leave with much more than a tree: a precious moment.

Accommodation for employees who come from far away
A project to house workers and centralize activities
In a context of labor shortages, the Gaboury Development Corporation is taking the lead. A new building is being acquired to provide both modernized offices for its team and housing for workers from outside .
Present in eastern Témiscamingue for 31 years now, the Corporation is not immune to recruitment challenges. To meet the growing demand for forestry work, it often has to call on workers from outside the region. Providing a roof over these employees becomes a logistical necessity... but also a welcoming gesture.
 Offices downstairs, bedrooms upstairs
The new building will provide comfortable rooms upstairs for seasonal workers, while administrative offices will occupy the ground floor . This configuration will not only centralize the organization's activities, but also create a stable and welcoming living space for those who come to lend a hand in the field.
This project aims to alleviate the pressure of temporary housing , a well-known issue in many rural areas. By facilitating employee accommodation, the Corporation also improves its ability to recruit... and retain resources.
A new anchor in the municipality
The former offices of the Corporation, located near the church of Latulipe, will thus be moved opposite the former municipal cash desk , a symbolic place of centrality and renewal.
More than just a move, this project reflects the organization's desire to continue to grow, adapt and better serve its territory , while placing workers at the heart of its priorities.
